Goodwill Industries of Greater New York and Northern New Jersey, Inc. is a non-sectarian, not-for-profit organization serving people with mental and physical disabilities, the unemployed, new immigrants, ex-offenders, mature workers and underserved youth. Goodwill’s diverse programs span New York City, Northern New Jersey, Long Island and upstate New York. Goodwill serves more than 110,000 people annually.

Goodwill’s mission of putting people to work has never been a higher priority for businesses and for government than it is today. They serve the Greater New York region with a range of effective human service programs to help people achieve participation in society through employment.

In several communities, Goodwill also provides programs to keep young people in school, improve their language and learning skills, and enhance their work-readiness. Goodwill helps thousands of people find productive, meaningful work every day through their programs and services. With Goodwill’s help, people experience the pride and excitement of earning a wage.

In 2008, Goodwill's 85 programs:
  • Served 136,808 people
  • Placed 12,734 people
  • Employed 2,389 people with disabilities in Goodwill Industries
  • Supported 7,002 young people through Goodwill educational and recreational programs

Through Goodwill’s 32 retail stores, customers can save on new and gently used clothing and other merchandise while supporting Goodwill's award-winning programs for people in need. Every store gratefully accepts donations and offers a tax receipt.  Their retail stores also provide an important opportunity for the people they serve; jobs in their stores are often part of training programs for people with disabilities and other special needs.

The Goodwill Network currently has ten locations throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx and Queens.
