GrowNYC

Picture
GrowNYC (formerly known as Greenmarket) promotes regional agriculture and ensures a continuing supply of fresh, local produce for New Yorkers. GrowNYC has organized and managed open-air farmers markets in NYC since 1976. It supports farmers and preserves farmland for the future by providing regional small family farmers with opportunities to sell their fruits, vegetables and other farm products to New Yorkers.

FY Eye has been working closely with GrowNYC for several years to help promote a number of their programs including the wholesale produce and flower market as well as their Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) Program, the identification card for the SNAP/Food Stamp Program.

2011 Campaign

As of June 27th, through Encompass Outdoor, we launched a bodega poster campaign to promote EBT Card usage at farmer markets. Proven extremely successful during the 2010 Spring/Summer seasons, we decided to utilize this medium again.  Posters list the nearest available farmers markets based on the location.  Strategically located in areas of lower EBT card utilization in the Bronx, Queens, Manhattan, Brooklyn and Staten Island.
In late April, we utilized a number of English and Spanish newspapers targeting Bronx residents and business owners to promote GrowNYC's Wholesale Market in the Bronx.  The Half Page Color display ad was highly noticeable in the publications and received excellent placement within the publications.

2010 Campaign

Starting in the Spring of 2010, FY Eye helped GrowNYC place outdoor posters throughout NYC on bodega store fronts.  We specifically targeted bodegas located near farmers markets in which EBT cards were underutilized.  The campaign was such a hit, that the media was expanded for another month.

2009 Campaign

The first campaign, launched in early October 2009, targeted EBT users informing and encouraging them to utilize their food stamps at farmers markets for healthy, fresh produce.  FY Eye facilitated in the placement of approximately 1,500 interior bus cards placed on NYC public buses throughout Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens and Brooklyn.  In addition, FY Eye helped Greenmarket place display ads in community newspapers in key target areas in which the EBT Food Stamp program was being underutilized within specific farmers markets.

Below are two examples of the newspaper advertisements placed in geographically targeted community newspapers.
